What is mulberry silk?

Mulberry silk is the highest quality silk available for purchase. The unique thing about Mulberry silk is how it is produced. Mulberry silk has its history in China, where local farmers grow Mulberry trees and harvest the leaves for silkworms to feed on. The resulting cocoons are spun into raw silk fibers.

Because the silkworms of the Bombyx Mori moth are fed only Mulberry leaves, the resulting silk is some of the finest available in the world.

What is momme?

Fun fact! Momme is actually pronounced as moe-me. Momme is the measurement used to indicate the weight of the silk. The higher the momme weight, the more durable the weave, the more luxurious the fabric is, the more suitable it is for heavy-duty use, and the longer the shelf-life.

Quality silk ranges between 19 – 22 momme. In silkrush our silk pillowcases are made from pure mulberry silk with a thickness of 22 momme We take our brand values seriously. We guarantee our measurement of 22 momme.

Why I should ditch my cotton pillowcase?

Cotton absorbs our night creams and serums, thus reducing the effectiveness of our skincare products.

Cotton also absorbs moisture from our hair and skin also thus resulting you waking up with bedhead.

Cotton scratches and tugs on delicate facial skin, resulting in premature stretching

Silk on the other hand, doesn’t absorb these serums due to its anti-absorbent property and helps your hair and skin glide on it which causes less friction.

Why can’t I use a satin pillowcase instead?

Satin is widely available and comparatively way cheaper compared to mulberry silk. Satin is a polyester fiber, which means that it is made from plastic polymers and petroleum. In hot regions like Asia, Africa and Middle East, satin makes you sweat profusely which could cause skin irritations and allergies.

Silk on the other hand, is a breathable fabric and a natural temperature regulator, silk helps the body retain heat in cold weather while excess heat is expelled in warm weather, along with it being anti-bacterial and anti-allergic.

Does silk have anti aging benefits?

Silk helps retain the natural moisture levels of our skin and hair. Silk helps your skin glide easily on the pillowcase thus prevents premature ageing as well as wrinkles and pillow creases.

Silk is hypoallergenic?

Silk is a natural fiber which is anti-bacterial and hypoallergenic. Mulberry silk contains a natural protein called sericin that reduces the possibility of an allergic reaction. If you have sensitive or acne prone skin, silk will also actually help reduce the sensitivity and give you healthy looking skin.

Silk will help blow out last longer?

Silk helps your hair slide on the pillow and avoids pulling of hair. It will also retain the natural moisture level of your hair. So when you wake up in the morning, your hair is in perfect condition – with the glossy effect still intact.
